An insight into being one of our Directors

Carl Jenkinson answers questions about life as one of Venture's company Directors.

What do you love most about your job?

The diversity of the people we deal with on a daily basis. You get to meet with clients from all walks of life as an Estate Agent, and as I'm a people person it’s what I like the most about the job.

Tell us about a record-breaking month.

We actually had a record-breaking year in 2015!

What’s the biggest business challenge you currently face in your local area?

There’s a lot of competition, so we’re trying to make sure that it doesn't just become a race to the bottom with fees. Our challenge is maintaining a high level of service whilst still being seen as good value by the clients.

What do you wish you’d known when you first started out in business?

Hindsight isn't always a wonderful thing, but if I knew when we opened in 2008 that I would have high blood pressure and loss of hair now maybe I wouldn't have opened up!

What’s the funniest thing a client has asked you?

Can you walk the dog while you’re doing viewings? I obliged!

What 3 words would you use to describe the business?

Diverse, rewarding and challenging.

Why do you think you are successful in your local area?

Because of our honesty and integrity in every aspect of how we conduct our business and we're all about being different in what we do.  It’s what we strive for and is something of a mantra for us.

How do you motivate your team?

By involving them in every side of buying and selling houses. They stay engaged in the whole process as they see it from start to finish; from seeing properties, meeting clients, keeping track of sales to conclusion and conducting viewings.  This and being a very fair boss!

What’s the first piece of information you reach for when you get in the office?

I always ask the team what’s happened since I was last in the office so they can bring me up to speed. I'm a bit of a control freak they would tell you!
