Preparing for a mortgage appointment

At your mortgage appointment, our financial advisers will assess and make recommendations on the best mortgage solutions available to you. They do this by taking important financial information that is needed to advise and every lender will ask for.

Lenders will evaluate if you can afford mortgage repayments, so they’ll ask you about your income and expenses (the money you regularly spend). Be prepared to discuss outstanding and ongoing payments such as:

  • Credit card and loan balances
  • Essential costs (such as groceries and toiletries)
  • Costs for leisure activities (for example, eating out, socialising, TV licences, gym memberships and holidays)
  • Utilities
  • Travel
  • Ground rent or service charges
.

Documentation you will need to bring to the appointment to check eligibility are:

  • Photo ID
  • VISA or rights to remain (if applicable)
  • Payslips from the past three months (if you have recently just started a job then bring an employment contract, you only need to be employed for one day)
  • Bank statements from the past three months
.
