Review of the Year 2022

Posted on 8th December 2022

As we come to the end of the year, let’s look back on some of the highs and lows of 2022.

Overall 2022 has been much more positive than negative for Venture Properties and the property industry as a whole. The year started where 2021 left off, with an extremely competitive sales and lettings market where high demand and low stock levels continued to push prices up.

March saw us launch a hugely successful Ukraine appeal for warm clothes, nappies, toiletries etc. Our Darlington office took in four lorry loads worth of donations from a very generous public. It was really heart-warming to see people pull together in a time of crisis.

Our Property Management team moved into their new office, which was refurbished between April and June with a wall being knocked through to create one large, open plan, office for the 7 staff who work in that team.

Over the summer, Her Majesty celebrated her Platinum Jubilee which saw all of our offices come together to celebrate the never-seen-before event. To add to the country’s pride, the Lionesses lifted the European Championship trophy and ended England’s 56-year wait for silverware.

Meanwhile back at Venture, our Crook office outgrew its original premises (which it’s called home since 2013) and moved over to the other side of the market place to accommodate an increase in demand for their business. We are really proud of how the team there have come to dominate the local area from such humble beginnings. They now lead the way for both sales and lettings for the town and the surrounding areas.

More good news followed later in the summer when all of our offices were delighted to win first place at the Best Estate Agent Guide awards for both sales and lettings. What an achievement!

September was probably the busiest month all round. Firstly, with the incredibly sad news of the passing of our Queen, followed by the disastrous mini-budget by Liz Truss’s government which helped to send the markets into freefall and cost the country billions of pounds. Mortgage rates increased and lenders became stricter to take as much risk as they could out of borrowing, which has resulted in the property market continuing to slow down.

Venture got down the with the kids and diversified to TikTok, where we now regularly posts both funny videos and property tours on the app, so make sure you follow us today @therealventureproperties. Be sure to check out our Halloween special.

The end of the year has seen us launch our re-branding of the entire company. With a slight change in our colours – a darker grey with a greener green – we’ve changed our shop window cards and office signage too. But more exciting than that, we launched our brand new For Sale and To Let boards and are due to launch our new website later this month. All systems go here at Venture!

We’ve always been a company who likes to give back to the community and have raised tens of thousands of pounds for different charities over the year. As 2022 draws to a close, our Crook office have launched a fantastic appeal for Stray Aid, with blankets, towels and anything else you can think of to help our furry friends out this winter, and our Darlington office are collecting children’s gifts for the invaluable Salvation Army. All donations, as always, will be hugely appreciated.

We would like to thank all of our sellers, buyers, landlords, tenants and contractors who have worked alongside Venture for the past 12 months and continue to support one of the strongest independent estate and letting agents in County Durham. Most of all, however, we’d like to thank our wonderful staff. We couldn’t do any of this without you.
