Success for 'Tour de Branch' our Charity Bike Ride

Posted on 11th September 2019

After months of organisation and training, our biggest event of the year, the Tour de Branch, finally rode into town.

On Sunday 25th August, our team of 31 cyclists, made up of staff members, family and friends, all set off on the challenging 42-mile ride from our office in Chester-Le-Street down to our Darlington branch, making pit stops at several offices on the way.

With the bank holiday turning out to be a scorcher, the heat was another obstacle to overcome for us. There were parts of the route which had absolutely no cover, but our amazing crew were on hand to distribute water, and everyone made it through with high spirits!

The ride was a brilliant event, yet again, and our amazing supporters (including a few furry friends) served up bacon and sausage sandwiches at one of the pit stops and were there to welcome us over the finish line.

After 3 hours and 48 minutes of riding, all of the cyclists were wheelie tyred and after a celebratory drink, hobbled home for a well deserved rest.

We are so pleased to announce that after closing our Just Giving page, we have exceeded our target of £3,000 and raised £3,176 for Stray Aid who work tirelessly to rehome stray dogs throughout County Durham. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who sponsored the fantastic event.
