Taking the stress out of moving

Whether you’re moving into a new family home this Autumn or relocating to start university, the experience is well-known for being a stressful one.

But, it doesn’t have to be – we promise! We’ve compiled a list of tips to make sure that your house move goes as smoothly as possible. And remember, it’ll all be worth it in the end.

Important documents

We know it might seem obvious, but make sure you keep all your important documents together (passports, birth certificates etc.) not only so that they’re safe but so that if needed, you have them to hand.

First night bedding

Once the beds are built, you’ll probably just want to dive in. It’s worth packing a box with a set of bedding for each of those beds separately from everything else so that when bedtime comes around, it’s easily prepared for.

Overnight bags

The last thing you want to be doing when you’ve had a busy day is rummaging through boxes finding essentials. Pack an overnight bag for each person and keep them with you during the journey so you know exactly where they are. Items such as tea coffee, milk and sugar and of course clean clothes for the next day, a towel and your toothbrush are a must!

Be ‘box clever’

As with any big task, organisation is key. Pack by room and assign labels to the boxes - this is especially useful if you are using a removal company as they can place your boxes into their specific rooms.

Go with the flow

Even with the best organisation in the world, things aren’t always as straightforward as you might hope. Allow yourself to be flexible and allow a bit of extra time in case you need it – nobody likes being in a rush.
