What's on in County Durham this Autumn

Posted on 26th September 2018

What’s on in County Durham this Autumn?

It’s the season when the leaves turn golden, darker nights return and the Goddess Persephone is abducted by Hades to become the queen of the underworld, marking the start of Autumn (but you knew that, right?).

If you’re not in the business of abducting Gods, you might be looking for some interesting things to do during these cooler months; why not wrap up warm and head out to the many events taking place across the North East this year? Here’s just a few:

Halloween at Beamish

Looking to travel back in time and be haunted by hundreds of scary ghouls and ghosts? Halloween evenings at Beamish have been becoming more popular over the past few years and are great fun for all the (brave) families. Venture down to the pit village, Colliery Yard, Pockerley Old Hall and the town – all of which will be swamped with terrifying creatures. If you have the guts for it, tickets go on sale 17th September and are very limited, so be quick to avoid missing out!

World’s biggest coffee mornings!

Are you a coffee lover and fancy doing your bit for a good cause this Autumn? MacMillan Cancer Support is planning the World’s biggest coffee morning on 28th September; what could be better than relaxing with friends, enjoying some treats and raising money for a great cause, all at the same time?
